The former British intelligence operative who created the dossier about allegations of Donald Trump’s ties to Russia was reimbursed by the FBI for some expenses.
The arrangement ended when Christopher Steele, the former M16 spy, said he didn’t believe the FBI was doing enough to examine the ties between Russia and Trump’s campaign, CNN reports.
Although the FBI didn’t hire Steele as an informant, an arrangement was made to pay for some expenses.
When the FBI received Steele’s dossier last summer, the bureau managed to confirm some details.
Steele worked for the FBI in the past sand helped uncover information about the bureaus investigation of FIFA corruption.
