The FBI is investigating whether two high-profile killings in Texas and Colorado are connected, Reuters reports.

A masked gunman killed Texas Prosecutor Mark Hasse in Kaufman, Tex. as he walked to his car Jan. 31, Reuters reported. On Jan. 19, Colorado Prison Chief Tom Clements was killed in El Paso County in Colorado.

“The Dallas and Denver offices of the Federal Bureau of Investigation are comparing the homicides of Mark Hasse and Tom Clements to determine if there is any evidence linking the two crimes,” Kaufman Police Chief Chris Aulbaugh told Reuters.
