The FBI on Friday raided the suburban D.C. home and the downtown office of former Donald Trump national security adviser John Bolton to determine whether he illegally possessed or shared classified information, the Washington Post reports.
Bolton, who was not at his Montgomery County home in Maryland at the time, has been a constant critic of Trump.
“The FBI is conducting court authorized activity in the area. There is no threat to public safety. We have no further comment,” a spokesperson for the bureau said in a statement.
The Post writes:
“The investigation makes Bolton the latest of Trump’s political enemies to find themselves targeted by a Justice Department probe. In recent months, federal investigators have launched criminal investigations into Trump critics including New York Attorney General Letitia James, Sen. Adam Schiff (D-California),former FBI director James B. Comey and ex-CIA director John Brennan.”
