FBI Reopens Investigations into White House Cocaine, Pipe Bombs, and Supreme Court Leak

By Steve Neavling

The FBI will reopen investigations into three high-profile incidents: the 2023 discovery of cocaine at the White House, the pipe bombs planted near the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and the 2022 leak of the Supreme Court’s draft opinion that led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced the move Sunday on X, saying he had requested weekly briefings and encouraged tips from the public, the Guardian reports. Bongino said he and FBI Director Kash Patel were evaluating cases of “potential public corruption” that have generated widespread interest.

The bag of cocaine was found two years ago in a cubby near the West Wing entrance, an area frequented by staff and visitors. A lab test confirmed it was cocaine, but investigators were unable to determine who left it. Former President Donald Trump has repeatedly suggested the drugs could belong to President Biden or his son Hunter, though both were out of town at the time.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said visitor tours took place the weekend the cocaine was found, and a spokesperson dismissed allegations against Hunter Biden as “incredibly irresponsible.”

Bongino has claimed, without evidence, that whistleblowers suspect the cocaine could be linked to someone in Biden’s inner circle. Trump, in an interview earlier this year, said forensic testing should have revealed fingerprints but suggested the evidence may have been wiped clean.

The Supreme Court leak in May 2022 revealed the draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade before it was officially announced. A subsequent court investigation failed to identify the leaker. Trump condemned the leak as a “terrible thing” and called for reporters involved to be jailed until they revealed their source.

The FBI will also dedicate more resources to the unsolved investigation into pipe bombs found outside Democratic and Republican headquarters the night before the Capitol attack. The bombs were safely defused, but the suspect remains unidentified.
