An FBI supervisor is accused of making “an inappropriate sexual and religious joke” to a subordinate, according to the Justice Department’s internal watchdog.
The unnamed supervisor was described as a “then-acting deputy assistant director,” according to an investigative summary released Tuesday by the DOJ’s Office of Inspector General, the Daily Beast reports.
No more information was available about the identity of the accused or accuser or their assignments.
The official “physically simulat[ed] a sex act while holding the subordinate’s arms.”
“The OIG investigation further found the then Acting Deputy Assistant Director, when making the joke and gesture, physically touched the buttocks of the subordinate,” the summary states.
The alleged actions violated the DOJ’s zero tolerance policy on sexual harassment and the bureau’s policy against engaging in unprofessional conduct while on duty, according to the summary.
The OIG issued the report so that the FBI can take “appropriate action,” according to the summary. Between 2004 and 2020, about 665 FBI employees who were under investigation for alleged misconduct were allowed to resign or retire before being disciplined, according to a whistleblower last year.
