R. Joseph Rothrock has been named special agent in charge of the FBI’s Dallas Field Office.
Rothrock, who most recently served as the deputy assistant director in the Counterintelligence Division, began his career as an FBI agent in 2006 at the San Diego Field Office.
Rothrock was promoted to supervisory special agent in 2012, when he was assigned to the Criminal Division at FBI headquarters.
Rothrock returned to San Diego in 2014 to serve as a supervisory special agent working domestic and international violent crime, in addition to crimes against children and victim services programs.
In 2019, Rothrock became assistant section chief for the Criminal Investigative Division before he was promoted to assistant special agent in charge of the Criminal Branch at the Pittsburgh Field Office.
Rothrock returned to the Criminal Investigative Division in 2022 to serve as section chief.
Rochrock became deputy assistant director of the Counterintelligence Division in 2023.
Before joining the bureau, Rothrock worked as a police officer in Florissant, Mo. He also received a bachelor’s degree in information technology and a master’s degree in business administration from Lindenwood University.
