Jessica Aber, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, who stepped down when Donald Trump became president, was found dead Saturday morning at her home in Alexandria, the Alexandria Police Department said in a press release. She was 43.
Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Officers responded to a call about an unresponsive woman at a home in the 900 block of Beverley Drive shortly after 9 a.m. Aber was pronounced deceased.
A longtime federal prosecutor, she was nominated for the U.S. Attorney post by President Joe Biden and confirmed by the Senate in 2021.
