In a major break through in the Fulton County election fraud case, ex-President Donald Trump’s attorney Sidney Powell has pleaded guilty, CNN reports. Her trial had been scheduled to start this week.
Under the plea agreement, Powell will have to testify in future trials and write an apology letter to Georgia residents.
In exchange, prosecutors are recommending a sentence of six years probation.
CNN reports that Powell now admits that she played a role in the January 2021 breach of election systems in rural Coffee County, Georgia. Authorities allege that local GOP officials helped Trump supporters access and copy information from the county’s election systems with hope of showing election fraud.
