Islamic Group Urges Investigation of Pig Feet Found at Site of Proposed Mosque

 An Islamic organization in Southern California is asking the U.S. Justice Department to investigate a case in which three pigs legs were strewn on a site of a proposed mosque last week during the Muslim holy month of of Ramadan, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Pigs are offensive to Muslims because they believe the animal is unclean.

Construction of the proposed Al-Nur Islamic Center was approved last year by San Bernardino County officials said.

“This has shaken up the community a bit, but they’re trying not to let it deter them,” Munira Sayed, spokeswoman for the group’s L.A. chapter, to the LA Times.

The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
