Monica M. Miller, who has abundant experience investigating violent crime and public corruption, has been tapped as the leader of the FBI’s Sacramento field office, the Sacramento Bee reports.

Miller will replace Herb M. Brown, who departed last year to take a job with the Central California Intelligence Center.

Miller was the bureau’s senior detailee to the CIA, overseeing counterespionage employees.

Miller’s new territory stretches from Oregon to south of Bakersfield, Calif., the Bee reported.

She joined the FBI in 1989.
