Former FBI Director James Comey threw his support behind the Democratic presidential ticket, writing on social media that “Kamala Harris made me feel like it’s finally morning in America.
“Everyone who cares about the rule of law and America’s indispensable role in the world should vote for Harris and Walz. I will,” Comey wrote on X on Friday.
Comey’s endorsement should be no surprise. Although he was once a lifetime Republican, he was fired by Trump in May 2017. Since then, Comey has criticized Trump as unfit to be president.
Federal law enforcement leaders are worried that Trump, if elected, will politicize the bureau and use it as a weapon against the Trump’s perceived enemies.
