New Chief Takes Helm at Border Patrol’s Laredo Sector

Border Patrol’s Laredo Sector has a new leader. 

Jesse D. Muñoz, who began his career with the agency in Laredo in August 2000, was named chief patrol agent for the sector, the agency announced.

During his 23-year career, Muñoz has held various leadership positions, including acting chief patrol agent and deputy chief patrol agent of the Laredo Sector, acting deputy chief patrol agent of the Rio Grande Valley and El Paso sectors, deputy chief patrol agent of the Special Operations Group, assistant chief of the Joint Operations Directorate, and patrol agent in charge of the National BORSTAR Unit. 

Before joining the agency, Muñoz served for eight years in the U.S. Army as a combat medic and vocational nurse. He deployed in Turkey and Iraq in 1991 as a combat medic with the Third Infantry Division. 

Muñoz received a bachelor of arts degree in history from American Military University and a master of science degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College. 

He also graduated from the U.S. CBP Leadership Institute.
