Off-Duty Border Patrol Agent Died in Swimming Accident

An off-duty Border Patrol agent died in a swimming accident while on vacation with his family in the Trio River near Garner State Park in Texas. 

According to a statement from Garner State Park, the incident occurred near private property on the opposite side of the park near Cancun, Texas. 

“On June 17, 2023, an off-duty Border Patrol agent assigned to the San Diego Sector was involved in a swimming accident near Concan, Texas,” CBP said in a statement. “The agent succumbed to his injuries at the scene and the incident is currently under investigation by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.”

Further details were not available as of Thursday morning.
