An off-duty FBI agent shot and killed a gunman who walked into a bar and opened fire on his ex-wife and her new boyfriend at a sports bar in Illinois on Saturday night, the Journal Star reports.

The gunman, Jason A. Moore, shot his ex-wife, Lori A. Moore, 33, and her boyfriend in the head at Fifth Quarter Sports Bar and Pizzeria. They died en route to the hospital, according to the Journal Star.

The gunman died at the scene.

Authorities believe the FBI agent, whose name has not been released, may have averted a mass shooting.
