Douglas M. Goodwater, a section chief in the Office of Public Affairs at FBI headquarters, has been named special agent in charge of the Oklahoma City Field Office.
Goodwater’s first assignment as a special agent in 2007 was at the Oklahoma City Field Office, where he investigated gangs, drug trafficking, and violent crime.
In 2013, Goodwater began working at the Guam Resident Agency, a satellite of the Honolulu Field Office, where he investigated financial crimes and public corruption and was a part of a DEA task force.
He was promoted to supervisory special agent in the Counterterrorism Division at FBI headquarters in 2015.
A year later, Goodwater transferred to the Houston Field Office to serve as supervisory special agent overseeing international terrorism investigations. He later led Houston’s Transnational Organized Crime – Western Hemisphere squad.
In 2020, Goodwater began serving as an assistant special agent in charge of the Chicago Field Office, where he oversaw the Criminal Enterprise Branch.
Later that year, he became deputy special agent in charge in Chicago.
In 2022, he was promoted to chief of the Media and Engagement Section of the Office of Public Affairs at FBI headquarters, where he oversaw the National Press Office and the Community Relations Unit.
Goodwater received a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a master of business administration from the University of Nebraska in Omaha.
