The FBI has appointed Paul W. Brown as the special agent in charge of its Atlanta Field Office.

Brown previously led the Mobile Field Office in Alabama.

Brown joined the FBI in 2006 as a special agent, starting in the Bedford Resident Agency in New Hampshire. In 2012, he was promoted to supervisory special agent and assigned to the Counterterrorism Division at FBI headquarters. A year later, he became unit chief, overseeing U.S.-based international terrorism investigations.

In 2015, Brown moved to the Jacksonville Field Office, where he led the North Florida Joint Terrorism Task Force. Three years later, he was named assistant special agent in charge of the Phoenix Field Office, overseeing cyber, counterintelligence, and crisis response programs.

He was promoted to section chief in 2019 and appointed director of the FBI’s High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group. A year later, he became deputy assistant director of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate. In 2022, he took over as special agent in charge of the Mobile Field Office.

Before joining the FBI, Brown served as a U.S. Army officer and worked as a business consultant for a multinational firm. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and an MBA from Tarleton State University in Texas.
