Presidential GOP hopeful Ron Paul is the only candidate left who doesn’t have Secret Service protection, and he has something to say about that.
He thinks it amounts to a “form of welfare,” according to CNN.
“You’re having the taxpayers pay to take care of somebody,” Paul told talk show host Jay Leno on Tuesday night. “And I’m an ordinary citizen, and I think I should pay for my own protection.”
Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich have protection.
On the lighter side, Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) said the other day of Santorum’s Secret Service Protection:
“I see that both Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum now have Secret Service with them on the campaign trail. And in Santorum’s case, I think it’s the first time he’s actually ever used protection.”
