A Secret Service agent was robbed at gunpoint and fired his gun during the confrontation while President Biden was in Los Angeles for a reelection fundraiser over the weekend, according to the Secret Service.
The assailant stole the agent’s bag on Saturday night near a Southern California residential community about an hour’s drive southeast of Los Angeles, the Associated Press reports.
At one point, the agent fired his service weapon, but it wasn’t clear if the robber was injured.
Tustin police said they have not found the suspect but did recover some of the stolen belongings.
Also on Saturday night, Biden and former President Obama held a fundraising event in Los Angeles.
