Secret Service agents with ties to Donald Trump have been subpoenaed to testify in the case of the former president’s handling of classified documents, ABC News reports.
Special counsel Jack Smith issued the subpoenas.
It wasn’t immediately clear how many agents received the subpoenas.
A spokesperson for the special counsel declined to comment.
Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Smith in November to investigate Trump’s handling of classified documents and his role in overturning the 2020 election.
The Justice Department is pursuing possible obstruction charges against Trump for allegedly failing to honor a subpoena to return the classified documents last year, The Washington Post recently reported.
Trump is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in a separate case involving hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels.
