The Secret Service aired a dramatic recruitment ad during the Super Bowl on Sunday, highlighting its 160-year history and appeal for new agents.

“If you weren’t able to attend tonight’s big game, you missed a jumbotron highlight!” the agency posted on the social platform X. “For 160 years, our agency has been a witness to history; and since 1901 we’ve protected the most important people and events, including #SuperBowlLIX.”

The 60-second video, titled A History of Protection, weaves through key moments in U.S. history, from the assassination of President Lincoln to 9/11, The Hill reports. It also references notable comments from Presidents Kennedy and Reagan, as well as the recent assassination attempt on former President Trump.

“America was founded on an idea of freedom. America’s always stepped forward in times of need throughout our short but powerful history,” says the narrator, as footage cuts between historical scenes and Secret Service agents in action.

The ad closes with a call to join the Secret Service and a link to the agency’s careers page.

The spot marks the start of an ambitious 2025 recruitment push, according to Secret Service communications chief Anthony Guglielmi. The campaign, he said, reflects the vision of newly appointed Director Sean Curran, who enlisted film director Michael Bay and co-producer Scott Gardenhour to craft the cinematic ad.

Director Curran, in a statement to The Hill, said the agency has “the most professional and dedicated workforce,” but added that it’s stretched thin following major national security events and an intense campaign season.

“In this role, part of my vision is to recruit and retain the most elite workforce,” Curran said. “I recognized the need to act quickly to build and sustain that team.”
