The Secret Service is investigating a potential link between the recent hacking of consumer data from Target and the arrest of two Mexicans over the weekend, Reuters reports.
The Mexicans were found with a cache of fraudulent credit cards.
Target said the breach ended in the theft of 40 million credit and debit card records, Reuters reported.
“The U.S. Secret Service continues to work closely with affected parties and law enforcement to investigate the Target breach. In regards to the arrest announced yesterday, the Secret Service is working with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and McAllen Police Department to determine if there is any connection,” Donovan said in an email.
