As the nation braces itself for a possible indictment of ex-President Donald
Trump in New York, Democratic Sen. Mark Warner says the FBI is ready should
violence result.
“I’ve been briefed by the FBI they say they’re fully prepared, but this kind of outrageous behavior this man obviously has very little moral compass and if he spurs on additional violence it would be one further stain on his already checkered reputation,” Warner told CNN Sunday.
“I got briefed before the supposed Tuesday indictment that didn’t come to pass,” Warner said. “We’ve had an update they’ve seen no specific
strains (of threats), but the level of rhetoric on some of these right wing sites has increased.”
Trump has been publicly attacking Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and called for citizens to take back the country if he’s indicted for allegedly hiding the origin of a $130,000 payment in 2016 to porn star Stormy Daniels.
Last week, he wrongly predicted that he would be arrested on Tuesday. On Saturday, he told reporters that he believed Bragg had decided to drop the case.
