Something Smells Funny? FBI Warns About Proliferation of Counterfeit Cosmetics, Fragrances

Something doesn’t smell right.

So says the FBI, which reports an increase in the sale of counterfeit cosmetics and fragrances.

According to the agency’s recent blog, more people are being scammed with phony cosmetics and counterfeit fragrances that are being shipped into the U.S.

That’s especially dangerous because phony cosmetics may contain arsenic, carcinogens and unhealthy amounts of aluminum. Counterfeit fragrances also may contain carcinogens and even urine.

The FBI offers a list of ways to identify counterfeits.
