The special counsel team investigating former President Trump’s handling of classified documents is investigating the handling of surveillance footage from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, CNN reports.
Jack Smith’s prosecutors are also investigating how employees with the Trump Organization responded to the Justice Department’s demand for surveillance footage.
The inquiry hatched a new round of grand jury subpoenas to longtime Trump Organization executives Matthew Calamari Sr. and his son Matthew Calamari Jr.
The executives are expected to appear before the grand jury investigating the classified documents, which could make the executives witnesses against Trump.
Calamari Sr. is the executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Trump Organization, and he’s responsible for overseeing security operations for Trump and his properties. His son is director of security for the Trump Organization.
Prosecutors are hoping the security footage reveals more about the handling of the documents.
