A TSA agent in Florida is accused of concocting a wild tale to explain why she was late to work.
Taleta Collier, 34, was arrested for providing a fake burglary report, Orlando Sentinel reports.
A TSA agent for Tampa airport, Collier was frequently tardy and placed on a performance improvement plan.
On March 20, 2023, she called into work and said she’d be late because of a would-be carjacker with a knife.
Collier told her supervisor that she had stopped the suspect from stealing her parents’ car by drawing her agency-issued weapon. She said she had informed the Polk County Sheriff’s Office of the incident.
When her supervisor asked for an incident report, she sent a screenshot of the report. The supervisor requested a hard copy, and she never turned it over.
Sheriff’s deputies determined the report was fake.
“You can’t make this stuff up. I don’t understand why anyone would go to the extent of creating a fake police report to avoid a reprimand at work for tardiness. Collier has violated the trust of her coworkers and the people she was supposed to keep safe,” said Sheriff Grady Judd.’
Collier was charged with criminal use of a personal ID and uttering a false document.
