Sen. Rick Scott became the third Republican member of Congress to be targeted in “swatting” incidents over the holiday recess, following earlier false reports to law enforcement involving Reps. Brandon Williams, R-N.Y., and Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.

The Florida senator called the incident a “sick attempt to terrorize my family,” The Washington Post reports

Federal law enforcement officials are investigating the dangerous hoaxes.

Someone called police around 9 p.m. to report a shooting at Scott’s home in Naples. Police realized the call was a hoax about 15 minutes later. At the time, Scott and his wife were out at dinner, and his home was unoccupied.

On Tuesday, Williams tweeted that his home was swatted on Christmas day.

Greene said her home was also swatted on Christmas.

It’s unclear whether the three hoaxes are related.
