An Illinois man wanted in the fatal shootings of eight people died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a confrontation with U.S. Marshals in Texas, NBC News reports.
Romeo Nance, 23, was the subject of a nationwide manhunt Monday after eight people were killed at three locations in the Joliet area since Sunday.
U.S. Marshals found Nance’s body Monday evening.
Details of the confrontation were still murky immediately after the shooting.
Authorities say Nance fatally shot eight people in three different homes.
The motive for the shooting remained a mystery late Monday.
