The FBI arrested a Washington state man accused of posing as a federal agent to rob businesses run by East African immigrants.
Prosecutors said Steven Wyatt Fisher used a fake FBI badge and claimed to be Jack Ryan, a fictional character in Tom Clancy novels, KCPQ reports.
Prosecutors believe Ryan was targeting immigrant communities because they are less likely to report a crime.
“Impersonating a federal officer is very concerning,” said FBI spokeswoman Ayn Dietrich-Williams.
Fisher is accused of stealing more than $100,000 in one case.
