Pedophiles are increasingly using webcams to watch children perform sex acts from as far away as other continents, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

A Pennsylvania man, for example, watched a 12-year-old perform for him at an Internet cafe in the Philippines. For a fee, the man was able to control the action in real time, the Post-Gazette wrote.

This exploitation – referred to as webcam child sex tourism – means pedophiles don’t have to travel across the world to molest a child.

“These cases are considered ‘virtual traveler’ cases,” said one of the FBI agents, James Kilpatrick, a computer forensics expert. “Instead of getting on a plane and flying to the Philippines, he can do this on the computer.”
