U.S. District Judge James Boasberg of D.C.  has ordered the Justice Department and the FBI to turn over to him complete memos written by James Comey about President Donald Trump.

Boasberg ordered both full and redacted versions of the memos by Monday so he can decide whether to release them to the public, the HuffPost reports.

Boasberg’s order is in response to a 2017 Freedom of Information Act case brought by CNN, other media outlets and conservative organization Judicial Watch.

Comey revealed after he was fired in May 2017 that he had jotted down contemporaneous notes and written memos from them after meetings with Trump, HuffPost notes.

In a town like D.C., politics certainly matters.

And that’s what apparently concerned D.C. U.S. Attorney Jessie Liu, who withdrew herself from consideration for the No. 3 spot at the Justice Department, CNN reports.

CNN reports her past affiliation with a progressive women’s organization derailed her pending nomination in the Senate and she pulled out of consideration for the job because she did not want to be a distraction at a critical time for the department.

Attorney General William Barr issued a statement Thursday praising Liu and saying she “would have made an outstanding associate attorney general.”
“Jessie Liu is one of the finest, most impressive people serving in the Department of Justice,” Attorney General William Barr said in a statement.

“Schiff is a bad guy,” Trump said. “He knew it was a lie…He should be forced out of office. He is a disgrace to our country.”

He said Russia would have been better off with Hillary Clinton being president, and he added:

“If they had anything on me it would have come out a long time ago.”

Comey said he’s not clear why Robert Mueller didn’t come to a conclusion on the obstruction of justice question, or why he didn’t subpoena President Trump.

Below is part of the interview.
