A CBP officer was arrested and charged with stealing cash from an international airline passenger while working at Naples Airport in Florida, the Justice Department announced Wednesday.

William Joseph Timothy, 43, faces up to 10 years in prison.

The Justice Department alleges Timothy was conducting a border enforcement examination in May 2023 when he pocketed more than $2,000 in cash from an international airline passenger.

After the money went missing, investigators examined surveillance video that showed Timothy swiping the money, according to prosecutors.

The case was investigated by CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility.
