A D.C. man was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal December shooting of an off-duty Secret Service agent.

NBC4 Washington reports that Charles Sims, 29, was arrested Monday evening and charged with the killing of Secret Service Uniformed Division Officer Arthur Baldwin, 30.

Police believe Sims tried to rob Baldwin, who was unarmed, on the 4700 block of 1st Street SW in Washington D.C.

Baldwin was shot multiple times and sent to a hospital, where he later died.

Baldwin was an eight-year veteran of the Secret Service and has a wife and three children.
