The FBI launched a criminal investigation into the collapse of the Baltimore bridge in March caused by a ship that crashed into the structure’s support.

Agents boarded the cargo ship Dali as part of a court-authorized search, The Washington Post reports.

The bureau is expected to investigate whether the vessel’s crew left the port knowing there were serious system problems with the 985-foot Singapore-flagged ship.

The vessel slammed into one of the Francis Scott Key Bridge’s support pillars after losing power while leaving the Port of Baltimore.

The crash in the early morning of March 26 killed six men who were working on the span at the time. The bodies of two victims are still missing.

The NTSB is also conducting an investigation but will stop collecting evidence as FBI agents conduct their probe.
