Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg struck back Tuesday, filing a 50-page federal lawsuit accusing Rep. Jim Jordan and others of overreaching and of a brazen and unconstitutional attack on his investigation that resulted last week in a historical 34-count indictment against ex-President Trump.
Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, is trying to obtain confidential investigative materials in the investigation.
The Washington Post reports that the suit asks a New York federal judge to quash a subpoena from Jordan’s committee issued to former Manhattan prosecutor Mark Pomerantz, who left the office after a major dispute with Bragg over the handling of the case. Pomerantz was pushing to be more aggressive.
Pomerantz has been subpoenaed to appear before Jordan’s committee on April 20. The lawsuit says the subpoena to Pomerantz is an overreach of Congressional authority, the Post reports.
