Mark Meadows, Rudolph Giuliani, and 16 others were indicted Wednesday by an Arizona grand jury for their roles in trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

The indictment includes charges against 11 Republicans who submitted a document to Congress that falsely declared Trump won Arizona in 2020, The Washington Post reports. They include two sitting state lawmakers, the former state party chair and a former U.S. Senate candidate.

The others include nMeadows, who served as Trump’s chief of staff, and attorneys Rudy Giuliani, Jenna Ellis, John Eastman and Christina Bobb.

Trump was named in the indictment as an unindicted co-conspirator.

The indictments follow a year-long investigation by Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, a Democrat.

Biden won Arizona by nearly 10,500 votes.

Three other states – Michigan, Georgia and Nevada – also charged Trump allies who formed an alternate slate of presidential electors.

“In Arizona, and the United States, the people elected Joseph Biden as President on November 3, 2020,” the indictment reads. “Unwilling to accept this fact, Defendants and unindicted coconspirators schemed to prevent the lawful transfer of the presidency” to keep Trump in office “against the will of Arizona’s voters.”

“This scheme would have deprived Arizona voters of their right to vote and have their votes counted.”
