The man who killed three people and wounded nine others at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado said he chose the attack to make “my last stand” against the FBI, which he claims has been harassing him for years.
In an interview with KCNC-TV, Robert Lewis Dear said he didn’t plan the Nov. 27 shooting in advance and that the FBI was following him that morning.
Dear claimed that the FBI has been raising him for years, breaking into his home and cutting holes in his clothes.
“I felt like they were going to get me, and so I am going to pick where I am going to make my last stand, and I picked Planned Parenthood because it’s murdering little babies,” Dear said. “Well, when I got there, of course, those guys knew I was armed, knew everything about me. They slither off like snakes and they get the local cops to do their dirty work, so that’s why the shootout was there.”
The FBI couldn’t comment because of a gag order in the case.
Dear said he’s “sane” and “coherent” and has a college degree.
He has been charged with 179 counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, assault and other crimes.
“Well I’m just an honest man and I believe I’m guilty, so I am just going to plead guilty,” he said.
