An off-duty FBI agent who fatally shot a man on a platform at a busy subway station in downtown Washington D.C. in 2022 won’t be charged with a crime, the Justice Department announced Tuesday.

The agent, who was not identified, shot 28-year-old Troy “TJ” Bullock when he became combative on a platform at the Metro Central station.

Bullock became “physically aggressive toward the agent” when he tried to defuse the confrontation with another individual, prosecutors said in a news release

Bullock grabbed the agent and pushed him over a utility wall.

The agent drew his weapon and shot Bullock as he “resumed his attack,” prosecutors said.

Relatives of Bullock called on prosecutors to charge the agent
