While President Donald Trump promotes “Spygate” as the biggest scandal since Watergate, senior House Republican Trey Gowdy said the use of an FBI informant to gather information from Trump advisers  during the 2016 presidential campaign was justified.

Gowdy, who was part of a highly classified Justice Department briefing last week, said on Fox News:

“I am even more convinced that the FBI did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got. He said the information also suggested that the effort had “nothing to do with Donald Trump.
